Dr. Geni Manchester
Practice Owner, Veterinarian
Although she had wanted to become a veterinarian since she was a little girl and constantly rescued hurt or lost animals, Dr. Geni Manchester found herself working in the banking field during adulthood. While talking to her husband about how unhappy she was at her job, she came to a realization: her old dream of becoming a veterinarian was her true passion! Dr. Manchester never looked back—now, she’s the proud owner and operator of Redwood Pet Clinic.
Dr. Manchester grew up in the East Bay area, spending many summers at her grandmother’s hobby farm and taking care of the animals there. After making the choice to return to school for her veterinary studies, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in biological science while still working full-time and volunteering at the Oakland Zoo and the Oakland SPCA. Dr. Manchester’s hard work paid off and she was accepted into the University of California-Davis’s veterinary program; she graduated as a licensed veterinarian and has been helping pets and their owners ever since.
Dr. Manchester purchased Redwood Pet Clinic in July of 2008 and continues to provide the pet parents of the area with the top-notch, family-centered care that can only come from fellow pet owners. She’s especially fond of diagnosing and treating unusual or complicated maladies, and her favorite part of her job is getting to foster the incredible bonds between pets and their loving human parents. Dr. Manchester holds special certifications in Family Medical Practice, laser therapy, and acupuncture.
In her time away from the clinic, Dr. Manchester enjoys reading, hiking, bicycling, performing around town in her belly dancing troupe, and spending time with her husband, Stephen, and their many pets. The family has two German Shepherds, Arya and Drogo; a pair of cats who go by Merlin and Elphaba; a Mexican milk snake named Caduceus; and several fish in an 80-gallon saltwater tank. Dr. Manchester is also the proud owner of Pepper, Redwood Pet Clinic’s resident hospital Macaw.
